In the seventh grade she began to take guitar and piano lessons. It sparked her interest to write songs. At 14 years old, April was spending a lot of time writing songs and honed her musicianship abilities. Soon after, April started traveling with her father as well as write her songs at home in NY and LA. April included other subjects in her track, Take my Hand. These topics were meant for the friends of hers who struggled with things like peer pressure issues or even teenage suicide thinking. Lockhart is an influencer in the beauty and lifestyle industry with a growing fan base. She works with popular brand Ilia in partnership, as well as being a specialist in lifestyle. It's true that she was born with no left hand and that creates her unique. But this isn't the only thing about her. Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't overlook her handicap. However, it doesn't emphasize it. The point? It is important to remember that we all have multiple faces. Our identities vary and we're much beyond our body. I don't want that to be the only thing that defines me. I don't want to be a disability influencer where it's the only thing I discuss because there are so many other elements to me Lockhart states in video form from her house in Nashville. It doesn't impact my day-to-day living. I do the things I normally would and have adapted to my disabilities. It's also a part of me, and I believe it should be discussed. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon however Lockhart is a true inspiration on that front. Lockhart admits to having been through a series of phases in her body, and felt uneasy in some instances to wear outfits that showcased her arms. She now wears whatever she likes. She also posts her pictures to social media. She says that self-love is a journey. It's hard to say whether you'll get to the point of no return. It's the same for everybody regardless of their insecurity. I think it is important to surround yourself with those who are able to know the person you are.
