Richard B. Cheney has served as a public servant for a long time as well as a successful businessman. Cheney is currently the Vice-President of the United States. Cheney has become a regular face on the Washington political landscape, has served under several U.S. presidents George W. Bush is the fourth and as an elected representative. Bush announced the nomination of Cheney as his vice-presidential running partner in July of 2000. Bush cited Cheney's wisdom, judgment, and experience. Dick Cheney is a former chief of staff to presidents, served in Congress, and he was also secretary of Defense. Republicans as well as Democrats all respect his honesty. Cheney has said that he sees his role in the administration as that of an open and honest adviser to Bush. Cheney expressed excitement about taking the Republican vice-presidential nominee. He stated that Cheney is eager to work alongside a president who will work together with people of diverse political beliefs and shared objectives. Richard Bruce Cheney is the son of Richard Herbert Cheney of the late Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He was born on January 30, 1941, at Lincoln Nebraska. In the age of thirteen Richard and his family relocated across Nebraska, eventually moving to Casper which was where his dad worked as the director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture local soil conservation district.
